Do I Need Therapy?

For when you are unsure whether what you are carrying warrants support.

Very few people arrive at therapy certain they belong there. The far more common experience is a quiet, circling question: is this bad enough? This reflection is built for that question specifically.

Rather than measuring symptoms, it looks at impact — how much what you are carrying shows up in your work, your relationships, your sleep, and your sense of yourself — and at how well your current coping is holding.

Therapy is not reserved for crisis. Research on help-seeking consistently finds that people wait years longer than they need to, largely because they are waiting for permission. This is not permission, but it may make the picture clearer.

What this reflection looks at

  • How much daily life is being affected
  • Whether your usual coping is still working
  • How long the current pattern has lasted
  • What is holding you back from reaching out

What it is not

This does not decide anything for you and it is not a clinical assessment. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line.

What you get at the end

A short reflection written back to you in everyday language, a couple of gentle next steps, and — if you want them — a way to find a therapist who focuses on general therapy and first-time support. You can have your result emailed to you, or skip that entirely.
