Mood Volatility Reflection
For mood that swings between high energy and heavy lows.
Not all difficult mood is downward. Some people experience distinct stretches of unusually high energy — less need for sleep, faster thoughts, bigger plans — followed by lows that feel disproportionate to what caused them.
This reflection asks about both directions and, crucially, about the shape of the shifts: how long they last, whether other people notice, and what happens to sleep and judgment during the higher periods.
Mood that moves in distinct episodes is understood differently from mood that stays low, which is why this is worth reflecting on separately.
What this reflection looks at
- Periods of elevated energy or reduced need for sleep
- Speed and size of mood shifts
- Impulsivity during higher periods
- The lows that follow
What it is not
Bipolar spectrum conditions can only be assessed by a qualified clinician. This reflection cannot and does not do that. If your mood is putting you or others at risk, seek medical help now.
What you get at the end
A short reflection written back to you in everyday language, a couple of gentle next steps, and — if you want them — a way to find a therapist who focuses on mood volatility and bipolar spectrum support. You can have your result emailed to you, or skip that entirely.
